Spitting Feathers is
born of an enthusiasm for real ale and a belief in the
traditional methods of quality beer production. Free
from colourings, flavourings and other
artificial additives, Spitting Feathers award winning beers are made only from
the finest barley malts, wheat, yeast, hops and water.
This year our Beer Festival is on Saturday 20th July.
There will be beers from all the brewers of West Cheshire and also a few from further afield that do not normally appear in this area, around 36 different beers in all. There is an afternoon session (£6) from 2.00-6.00pm and an evening session (£8) from 7.00-11.00pm. There will be good food and entertainment from live bands during both sessions, many of the brewers will be here themselves and people will be able to look around the Spitting Feathers Brewery and farm.
This year the proceeds from the beer festival will go to the Anya Bentham appeal, www.justgiving.com/appeal4anya and www.childrenscancer.org.uk/our-appeals/anya
Tickets are on sale at our pub, The Brewery Tap on Lower Bridge Street in Chester. Unlike the brewery, there is always someone there and you can have a pint while you're there if you fancy one.
The home of Spitting
Feathers Brewery is Common Farm, built in 1862
in the village of Waverton two miles
south of Chester. The used grains from the brewery are a valuable feed for the cattle and pigs that provide the brewery with sausages (made with beer), spare ribs, etc. Bee hives on the farm provide honey for the seasonal beer Honey Trap. Small amounts of hops are also grown on the farm for use in occasional/special beers.
